Duane Everett Allen Jr., age 70, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born to the late Duane Everett Sr. and Virginia Allen on December 19, 1948 in Shelbyville, Indiana. Duane enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on April 2, 1968 at Local Board Number 51 in Indianapolis, Indiana and was honorably discharged on March 31, 1970 at the Marine Barracks in Great Lakes, Illinois. He happily received a Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Duane worked for CSX Transportation (Rail Road) and retired in 1999 and then worked for the track department. Duane was united in marriage on November 18, 1995 in Danville, Kentucky to the lovely Jacqueline Lee Burchett. Duane enjoyed gardening and working on his race car. He loved to hang out with his old buddies and found joy in helping anyone and everyone during his retirement.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 23 years, Jacqueline Lee Allen of Indianapolis, Indiana; his loving children, Jeffrey Dale Allen, Eric Duane Allen, and Jennifer Fant and her husband Wayne; his two sisters; his two brothers and his 13 grandchildren.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Indiana Funeral Care – Greenwood Chapel, 2433 East Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. Duane was such a good person. I never asked him for anything he didnt try to deliver. He was my brother-in-law and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. I will miss him so much. He was always there if I needed something. It’s time to rest now. So see you on the other side of the stars. ❤
